Currently, this is a live collaboration and must therefore be experienced live. However, if we decide to release our music in any digital or physical format in the future, it will be announced on this page as well as through our other channels.
During our creative sessions and rehearsals, we have recorded fragments of our work for our own reflection. While these recordings were not initially intended for release, it is possible that they may one day find their way into the light. Only time will tell - those who endure may yet hear.
Thus far, we have crafted the following pieces, each performed live only once. These are unique creations, born solely for these singular performances:
Forðumringrs Blót is no mere ceremony - it is an invocation, a submission to the relentless, unyielding spiral of primordial chaos. It does not seek beauty, nor does it offer solace. Instead, it tears open the veils of order and plunges into the roaring abyss of ancient forces that predate creation itself.
At its core lies the Hringr, the eternal circle, an unbroken cycle of destruction and rebirth, where chaos is both womb and grave. This is no sacred offering to gods of peace or harmony; it is an act of reverence to the devouring, formless void that shatters illusion and consumes certainty.
Through rhythm and ritual, the participants become vessels for this chaos. The drumbeats mimic the primal heart of existence, while dark ambient waves erode the borders between flesh and the infinite. The blót calls forth not worship but raw surrender, a spiraling descent into the storm where chaos reigns unchallenged.
Forðumringrs Blót is not for the faint of heart. It is a howl into the void, an embrace of entropy, and a pact with the forces that dismantle and recreate. To witness it is to confront the truth that chaos is eternal... and it is coming.
This piece, Sálumessa, is deeply rooted in the shadowed echoes of the Old Norse poem Sólarljóð ("The Song of the Sun"), penned by an unknown soul in 13th-century Iceland. Like the verses of that ancient text, this work peers into the liminal spaces where life and death coil around one another, bound by the threads of fate.
Sólarljóð is no mere lamentation - it is a cryptic guide to the unseen realms. Its verses, dripping with apocalyptic imagery, weave a tapestry of mortality, divine judgment, and the flickering light of the sun as both a witness and arbiter of the soul's journey. The poet's voice is that of one who has glimpsed beyond the mortal veil, returning with riddles forged in the fires of revelation.
In Sálumessa, we invoke this haunting legacy. The music becomes a funerary hymn, steeped in the despair and majesty of an ancient cosmos, where the sun is both a torch illuminating the soul's path and a harbinger of inevitable decay. The rhythms pulse like the heartbeat of the void, while melodic fragments rise and fall, as fleeting and fragile as mortal breath.
This is not a performance; it is a reckoning. Through sound and ritual, Sálumessa channels the spectral warnings of Sólarljóð: the impermanence of flesh, the vast indifference of the cosmos, and the inescapable shadow of chaos. Here, the sun burns not for warmth, but to sear the truth into the bones of those who dare to listen.
To partake is to stand at the precipice, gazing into the void where the echoes of Sólarljóð still linger. It is to feel the weight of eternity pressing down, reminding us that in the end, all light fades into darkness.
DRAUGURINN & NIRU collaboration project in dark ambient, obscure death industrial and transcendental ancient rhythms. Born from the whispers of primordial wisdom and driven by the forgotten forces of nature, the living, the dead, and the fractured echoes of a lost past. A hymn to shadows, a ritual for the unseen, and a descent into the void where time and memory collapse into oblivion.
DRAUGURINN, the haunting creation of Dísa, has carved a path through the shadowy realms of dark ambient, releasing multiple albums through the label Nordvis and performing live across the earth. Her music draws from ancient echoes, weaving ethereal soundscapes that pull listeners into a world of desolation and mysticism.
NIRU, the project of Nicklas, was born in the cold depths of winter 2023-2024. Though his work under NIRU remains in its raw, demo stages, he is no stranger to the dark corners of music. With roots that stretch across death, doom metal and dark ambient, Nicklas' involvement in numerous bands and projects has shaped him into a versatile creator of the darker side of sound.
It was in the autumn of 2024 that they decided to unite for select performances under the name DRAUGURINN & NIRU. More than just friends, their shared creative vision has formed something uniquely powerful. The goal is simple yet profound: to create music and accompanying art forms that explore the depths of the dark and the unknown, brought to life in live performances. Whether this collaboration remains a fleeting glimpse of their combined artistry or evolves into something greater, perhaps even a recorded release?, only time will tell.
DRAUGURINN & NIRU is a union of two souls bound by a mutual desire to craft soundscapes that are as dark and immersive as they are hauntingly "beautiful". The future of this collaboration remains shrouded in mystery, much like the music they create.
Together, Dísa and Nicklas are also part of the trio Doula Infernum.
